PSPC initiates and supports community action
to respond to local needs identified in our
social research and policy analysis. We work in
partnership with other organizations to ensure
that we have a diversity of perspectives at the
table, the expertise required to undertake
complex tasks, and the ability to make a lasting
difference. Our goal is to build on local
capacity to create a strong, healthy and just
community.
Our community development work spans a range
of initiatives. PSPC has helped to create and
implement comprehensive community plans,
including the Peterborough County City Municipal
Social Plan and the Community Plan to Address
Homelessness & Housing Insecurity. We have
worked with the YWCA and Planning Together, a
grassroots tenants association, to support
neighbourhood development in low income
neighbourhoods. Over the past 25 years, PSPC has
helped to initiate a variety of organizations
that meet needs within our community,
including:
- Community Opportunity and Innovation
Network (COIN)
- The LETS Exchange, a green dollar trading
system
- Kawartha Foodshare
- Affordable Housing Action Committee
(AHAC)
- Trent Centre for Community Based Education
(TCCBE)
- Lakefield & District Affordable Housing
Group
- Children and Youth Action Council
PSPC acknowledges the vital role of our
community partners:
- United Way of Peterborough &
District
- Peterborough County City Health Unit
- YWCA
- Kawartha Pine Ridge District School
Board
- Trent University
- City of Peterborough
- County of Peterborough
- Affordable Housing Action Committee
PSPC is proud to be part of a vibrant
community that continually seeks innovative
responses to local issues.
