The Peterborough Social Planning Council is committed to protecting the privacy of donors, volunteers and staff, and maintaining the confidentiality of their personal information.
With respect to donors, volunteers and staff, information may be provided to us through correspondence, direct mail solicitations or other forms of communication. Such information will be recorded only for the purpose of processing and receipting a donation, recognizing a contribution, registering participation in a conference, meeting, or other event, responding to information requests, or maintaining staff and volunteer records.
For those participating in Peterborough Social Planning Council research projects, confidentiality will be maintained as per the guidelines indicated in the organization’s Ethics Policy.
This policy is binding on all personal information that is provided directly to Peterborough Social Planning Council or through generic forms or processes under our auspices.
The Peterborough Social Planning Council will not provide or share Personal Information with third parties unless:
- The person involved expressly authorizes us to share the information;
- Sharing the information is necessary to process a donation, for example to process a credit card transaction;
- We are required by law.
The Administration and Communication Coordinator shall be the privacy officer for the Peterborough Social Planning Council, and the following steps shall be taken:
- A privacy e-mail address will be established.
- An annual privacy audit led by the Privacy Officer will be conducted and the results reported to the Board.
